SPPF ‘Architecture of Faith’ | Getting ready for the visit to the historic church | South Pasadenan

As a member of Foundation for the Preservation of MS Ongoing mission to connect the public to the history of South Pasadena, SPPF is back with another fantastic and unique tour of historic architecture: the Visit of the historic ‘Architecture of Faith’ church.

“This year we are doing something a little different,” SPPF member Dan Evans told local city council on Wednesday evening, noting that the saturday 4 may, the organization will organize a very special tour of the historic churches of South Pasadena.

The walking tours, scheduled from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., will be led by SPPF docents and church docents in cooperation with church management:

  • Grace Brothers Church
  • Presbyterian Church of Calvary
  • Saint-Jacques Episcopal Church
  • South Pasadena Christian Church
  • Holy Family Catholic Church
  • Oneonta Congregational Church

History and architecture will be highlighted at each site. “There is a pretty amazing story behind each of our churches,” Evens said. “All of them have been very important in the life and development of our city, and remain so today.”

Churches represent a variety of styles, including Mission Revival, English Norman, Gothic Revival, Spanish Baroque Revival, and Modern.

In addition, guests will be invited to the “Architecture of Faith” exhibition at the South Pasadena Historical Museum. A closing reception will be held at the Oneonta Congregational Church and will offer light refreshments.

The South Pasadena Preservation Foundation is a completely voluntary organization whose mission is to promote awareness and appreciation of the historic heritage of South Pasadena. The organization also oversees the South Pasadena Historical Museum.

Tickets for the church visit event are $ 30 per person in advance; $ 35 at the door; children under 12 are free. They are available on sppreservation.org
