DETROIT – Mint Artists Guilda Detroit non-profit organization that fosters Detroit’s creative youth, opened its first exhibit at the Detroit Historical Museum.
The exhibition, Paint Detroit with Generosity, runs now through January 2, 2022.
Fifteen artists between the ages of 14 and 22 were part of Mint’s summer jobs program, and eight of them were newbies at Mint. They spent part of their summer creating artwork for 25 local nonprofits.
Mint’s summer jobs program is supported by Grow Detroit’s Young Talent, the city’s youth employment program.
In addition to the Paint Detroit with Generosity paintings, the 15 artists will have their self-portraits on display at the Detroit Historical Museum.
“The Detroit Historical Society is thrilled to partner with an organization that encourages youth art and creativity. These young artists are the future of art professionals and museums, and we are thrilled to showcase their art. during the holiday season!” said Tracy Irwin, exhibits and enrichment manager for the Detroit Historical Society.
Since 2016, Mint and its artists have created and donated artwork to nonprofit organizations to raise awareness of their work and the beauty and importance of giving back. So far, more than 60 nonprofit organizations have received or will receive nearly 150 original paintings from Mint.
Mint Artists Guild is a Detroit nonprofit founded in 2015 dedicated to enhancing Detroit’s creative youth. Each year, Mint gives emerging artists the opportunity to learn how to successfully sell, protect and promote their art and a space to develop their artistic abilities. (Read more about Mint here)
