Date of the Makers of Modern Mebane ceremony at the Mebane Historical Museum | Culture & Leisure

Historians strive to make our current selves make meaningful connections to our past in a way that we can both identify with and learn from. This can be achieved by attending the Makers of Modern Mebane Reception scheduled for Thursday, September 23 at 5:30 p.m. at the Mebane Arts Center. This event is open to the public. Masks will be compulsory.

This annual collaboration between the Mebane Historical Museum and the City of Mebane celebrates the people who helped make Mebane the city we know today. The ‘class’ of 2020 includes centennial resident Ivory Tate Vincent; long-time city worker Sandi Bagby; and supporter of all things-Mebane, Tal Jobe.

These three were chosen in February 2020 and were waiting to be celebrated by their friends, family and Mebanite comrades. “

The creators of modern Mebane are chosen by a committee and public nominations. Do you know someone who you think should be honored? Contact the Mebane Historical Museum for appointment instructions. The next group of applicants will be reviewed and chosen in February 2022.

Would you like to know more about this program and the annual exhibition that accompanies it? Visit the museum to meet and get to know former designers.

The Mebane Historical Museum brings together, preserves and interprets the vast and vibrant history of Mebane.
