Temporary reopening hours will be Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
VANCOUVER — Staff members at the Clark County Historical Museum are delighted to announce that the museum will reopen to the general public on Thursday, April 15. Temporary reopening hours will be Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. until further notice.
Admission to the museum will be on a first-come, first-served basis. To show appreciation for the continued hard work and dedication of frontline workers and their families, CMHC is offering free admission to first responders and essential healthcare workers with ID.
Gallery attendance will be limited to 50% per Washington State Phase III COVID-19 guidelines. Additionally, all recommended and mandatory safety measures, including mask requirements, one-way lanes through the galleries, and enhanced disinfection and cleaning protocols remain in effect. To help ensure public safety and avoid crowds, a staggered entrance may be in place.
“Although the museum has had its bumps and bruises since our 2020-2021 closure, we are thrilled to welcome the public back to our historic building to hear the story of Clark County.” said CCHM chief executive Bradley Richardson.
As with our short-term reopening in October, indoor exhibits will be available with controlled attendance to allow for social distancing between visitors. In each gallery, guests will arrive through an entrance and follow a guided tour. Most of the interactive exhibits were restructured to allow contactless operation with a few removed that could not be changed.
Enhanced cleaning continues throughout the museum, including increased frequency of disinfecting high-traffic surfaces. Hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the building. In accordance with state health mandates, staff and all visitors will be required to wear face coverings.
As recommended by public health officials, people with serious health conditions, including those unable to wear a mask, should delay their visit or contact the museum before their visit to discuss reasonable accommodation options. .
Private group tours will be permitted on Wednesdays for small groups. In-person events normally held at the museum remain virtual and the museum will not be taking rental requests until 2021. The Research Library and Brautigan Library will be available by reservation only. Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance by contacting the museum.
